Primary job duties involve providing data, information, and support to our engineering and field operations staff.  In this function they will be responsible for input, maintenance, QC, extraction, manipulation and analysis of data.  Data to be processed may originate from public sources or from internal databases.  Create and utilize spreadsheets and databases to be used in screening and analyzing data.  The successful candidate will also be expected to carry out some trending analysis, highlighting anomalous data sets.

Ideal Candidates will possess the following required qualifications:  
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with strong understanding of oilfield operations
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of software (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to quickly learn new software packages

FACILITIES ENGINEER

Great opportunity to join a world leader in the Energy Industry at their Houston offices.  Our client is seeking an experienced Facilities Engineer for their West Texas/New Mexico operations.

Your key responsibilites will include the designing, maintaining and optimizing upstream onshore West Texas/New Mexico surface facilities and production operations. The fields include primary production, waterflood fields and an expanding number of CO2 flooded fields; total Business Unit production is in the range of 200 MBOPD, 2 MMBWPD and 1.5 BCF/D of CO2 injection. Activities include working with subsurface/wells teams to design and install new facilities needed to address changing production rates; covering all aspects of project management from scope development, detailed design/estimating and project controls. Scope also includes working with Operations/Construction field personnel to troubleshoot operating issues, develop/implement solutions in order to optimize field activities and ensure mechanical integrity of equipment is maintained. There is a strong focus on Health, Environmental and Safety issues, which cover H2S handling, HAZOP type safety reviews, Management of Change (MOC’s) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR). This role also interfaces with the Specialty Engineering group, and has responsibility to assist engineers in this group when it comes to tings like Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
Required Qualifications:
  • B.S. Degree or higher in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil or Electrical Engineering
  • 2 years minimum upstream E&P experience (prefer 4+ years)
  • Some industry training in upstream E&P areas is desired
  • Exposure to project management practices and field operations
  • Ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • A self-starter at least on the verge of being able to work with minimal oversight
  • Ability to multi-task, and a willingness to quickly change work assignments
  • Willingness to travel 10-15%, most can be relatively short planned trips but on occasion they might be required on short notice or might be 1-2 weeks in duration
  • Proficient PC skills for Microsoft products
  • Permian Basin waterflood and/or CO2 experience a benefit

This deepwater project is a multi-TCF gas pool being developed. The project is slated to be on production in the next year with an estimated cost of over $1 billion.

The Development Project Team is looking for a Reservoir Simulation Engineer to be responsible for the maximization of reserves and the optimization of the development well locations for deepwater field developments. In this role you will be responsible for carrying out accurate reservoir simulation and synthesis for the field(s) in association with other Reservoir Engineers and Geoscientists, and will provide reservoir engineering input to the team as required.
Specific responsibilities include: `
  • Develop 3D reservoir simulation models that accurately reflect all the available geological and reservoir engineering data, and provide reservoir depletion plans
  • Assist in the planning and execution of depletion/drilling strategies within a team environment
  • Help define and optimize the reservoir management strategy, development well locations and well design and production profiles
  • Identify risks and risk mitigation strategies/actions for each reservoir, including evaluation of the reservoir risks and uncertainties associated with development wells and production facilities
  • Define reservoir evaluation programs and participate in the follow up analysis of well results and integration of well results
  • Prepare and present reservoir engineering information to management, partners and other stakeholders
  • Assist in the preparation of regulatory applications/documents
  • Keep informed of technical advancements in the field of reservoir modeling

Excellent opportunity for an experience Senior Reservoir Engineer to join our client an International oil and gas company with operations.  The company aims to provide long-term growth and continue to develop technologies and manage projects that will meet the world’s energy and climate changes in a sustainable way.

Our client currently holds a substantial land base of oil sands leases in Northern Alberta which will result in full field development producing over 200,000 bbl/d. The Oil sands Pilot is coming on stream in 2010 at 20,000 bbl/d with plans for further expansion, and the current 10,000 bbl/d SAGD facility is on schedule. The second Oil sands Project is in the planning phase for developing a 40,000 bbl/d commercial plant. The objective of this position is to provide reservoir engineering and simulation support to the development of oil sands assets by using SAGD, solvent co-injection and/or other novel thermal recovery technologies. While you will report directly to the Manager, Reservoir Studies, you  may also be seconded to other Division or Department on a short-term basis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct numerical modeling, subsurface studies and exploitation planning. Generate production forecasts using reservoir simulation, production analysis and other reservoir engineering techniques. Optimize well pattern layouts, development sequences and well placement. Formulate fit for purpose reservoir surveillance plans to collect reservoir data. Analyze subsurface and surface field data to obtain key reservoir/well performance parameters. Perform regional studies (including analyzing competitor public data) to improve understanding of the SAGD process. Generate risked OBIP, production profiles, recoverable volumes for reservoir management. Participate in the reserve booking process including the evaluation, documentation, presentation and the reporting steps. Liaison with external partners and regulatory agencies. Support regulatory processes including technical justifications to the regulator and offsetting operators. Formulate and implement laboratory data acquisition programs including costing and vendor selection. As an asset team member, actively participate in revising development plans and capital cost forecasts as required. Provide input to economic evaluations, new land acquisition and joint venture opportunities as required. Assist in mentoring less experienced Engineers, EITs and intern students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ideal candidates must be a Canadian Citizen or be a Canadian Landed Immigrant. Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and APEGGA membership (P.Eng. designation) is required. 10+ years experience in reservoir engineering and related experience working within an integrated team including Geology, Geophysics and other Engineering disciplines. 10 years minimum experience with the SAGD development process is required. Reservoir experience in thermal recovery of bitumen is required. Exposure to steam solvent co-injection and/or Gas-Over-Bitumen is preferred. Experience with STARS, Exotherm or Eclipse Thermal simulation is required. Strong subsurface technical management skills. Ability to provide recommendations under varying timelines and working with sometimes limited or conflicting data. You must be a self-starter and be able to handle multiple projects concurrently.

Senior Staff Geologist
Calgary, Alberta
Our Client, a proven successful Independent Oil and Gas Company currently has one opening for a Senior Geologist with experience in Resource Plays. They are looking for an individual  focused on creating value through the successful development of assets in unconventional type plays.Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:


• Responsible for a strategic growth area in a multi-horizon deep basin gas setting;
• Drive the exploration and development of our existing land positions;
• Key skills are the correlation and calibration between multiple data sources (logs, cuttings, core, geophysics and engineering) into comprehensive, well supported recommendations;
• Very organized with a highly structured and effective workflow, designed to resolve uncertainty and move analysis forward;
• Tenaciously monitor the area for competitor activity and new opportunities;
• A strong business acumen that can participate in tactical planning meetings as well as quickly filter opportunities based on strategic fit, materiality and economic parameters is required; and
• Share technical expertise and learnings with peers, and across disciplines and mentor junior staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
• A minimum of 10 years of exploitation and exploration industry related experience and a registered APEGGA member;
• A solid understanding of geology, including knowledge of stratigraphy, structure, and trapping mechanisms for various conventional and unconventional resource play types;
• Varied experience throughout the basin having shown success in exploration;
• The ability to assimilate key information and incorporate the knowledge of other team disciplines, such as land, geophysics and engineering, in identifying, assessing and executing opportunities;
• Strong petrophysical, sequence stratigraphic and mapping skills, and an understanding of DST and production and geophysical data;
• Experience with multi-frac horizontal wells would be an asset;
• Ability to work with a variety of technical digital platforms (e.g. Accumap, GeoScout, Petrel etc);
• An ability to provide fresh approaches to existing plays;
• Excellent communication and team work skills;
• Driven to deliver value to the Team through solid technical recommendations; and
• Ability to foster strong internal and external relationships.

Geologist

We are seeking a geologist with a minimum of a BS degree in Geology or related Geoscience field, and 2 to 5 years of experience.  Candidate must have excellent written and verbal skills, and must be proficient with industry computer software.  Seismic sequence stratigraphy of 2D and 3D data required.  Interpretation of multibeam bathymetry, side-scan sonar, and subbottom profiler is a plus. Must have Deep Water GoM experience. We have a unique environment where talent is recognized. This position will come under the wing of seasoned Oil and Gas Geoscientists who are looking to mentor a 2-5 year Geologist and advance them with exposure to the most advance technology available today.
