¨     Well Tubing Analysis

¨     Gas Storage

¨     Small Business Management

Professional Experience

Major Energy Corporation                                                                         2005-2010
Senior Reservoir Engineering Advisor – Houston, Texas

Reservoir engineering for development in Brazil.

¨     Ongoing reservoir management for the reservoir in the  field in Brazil.  Worked with a team of geoscientists, drillers, and completion engineers to optimize reservoir development.  Successfully proposed water injection location based on modeling work to delay water breakthrough while still providing needed pressure support to increase production.   Recommendations have contributed to the reservoir performing significantly beyond expectations.

¨     Developed a simulation model for the carbonate reservoir in the field.   One of the main issues was the natural fracture system, which was implemented both in a Dual Permeability/Dual Porosity mode and with an enhanced Single Porosity representation.  The model is currently in the history matching phase, but has reached a level where it has been applied to locate two infill wells to be drilled  in 2010.

¨     Evaluation of (Equatorial Guinea) light oil reservoirs for company working with major energy firm, the operator of the field.   Prime focus was on operating issues, such as well locations and gas/water injection, and developing strategies for increased ultimate recovery.  Constructed three Eclipse reservoir models as a tool for discussions with the operator.   Along with other members of the team, influenced partner to modify the project development with positive results for wells.

¨     Evaluation of property in Equatorial Guinea.   Compositional and economical analyses carried out which influenced the operator in the ongoing appraisal of the field.

¨     Appraised and proposed well development plan for the Green Sand in Equatorial Guinea, which was an important component to the block being declared commercial.

¨     Mentored three summer interns, all of whom selected employment at company.  Assisted and mentored new reservoir engineers from other departments in their studies.

¨     Applications were implemented using primarily the Eclipse simulator with support from Prosper, MBAL, and PVTSIM software.

Large Energy Engineering Firm                        2000-2004
Reservoir Engineering Consultant -  Texas

¨     Completed an appraisal of a marginal oil field in Nigeria for an Energy firm.  Lead role on a team with a seismologist, a petrophysics expert, and a production engineer to evaluate a property with three well completions and 3-D seismic data.  Appraisal using CMG simulation software led to a proposed development plan, which was estimated to lead to production of 18 million barrels as compared to 0.5 million that was actually produced from the three original wells.

¨     Completed analysis of NGL production for the reservoir (gas condensate) for the energy operator.  Updated one previous model and generated a scoping model for a new reservoir. Three separate reservoir simulation models were then run under one surface control to provide compositional profiles from the produced gas stream.  A detailed compositional history match was carried out on each of the three reservoirs to validate the predictions.  The results were used to evaluate whether an upgrade in processing surface facilities would be necessary in order to eliminate the gas flare.  The model also provided an improved estimate of future NGL production.

¨     Completed update of study for Energy Corporation.  With a lead role on a team of geoscientists and engineers, updated previous models with information from 146 new well perforations.  Carried out analysis of well hydraulics to identify limiting factors on production.  Revised fluid characterization for the reservoir which helped explain declining reservoir performance.  Submitted new findings to a simulation model, which now achieved a significantly improved history match with the new data, and completed an evaluation of future development for the field.  The uplift in recovery (400 million barrels), along with the uplift from nearby reservoirs, justified the funding of the East Area project, an extensive investment (over $1 billion) in gas injection and surface facilities.

¨     Completed an EOS/1-D compositional scoping analysis using the CMG simulation software for a Joint Operating Company in Vietnam.  After guiding the selection of PVT experiments at Core Labs, an EOS model was developed which closely matched the experimental data.  The EOS model was then applied in a scoping simulation to evaluate the effectiveness of dry gas injection at different pressures, recycled gas injection, water injection, and depletion.  The work allowed development planning while an appraisal/exploration program was being carried out.

¨     Completed an evaluation of a gas storage reservoir in Oregon to assist the land owners in obtaining a fair market rental from the gas storage operator.  The storage capacity and deliverability was first evaluated by carrying out a history match of pressure, water-contact advance, and water production.  This information was then applied in a proprietary program to evaluate the fair economic value.

¨     Consulted for Large Energy Operator in the Middle East on a relatively thin oil rim (100 feet), volatile oil with a large, rich gas condensate zone.  Proposed a relocation of the wells to develop the oil rim first.  This prognosis was then verified in a reservoir simulation model.  The revision led to an estimated increase of 75 million barrels in oil recovery, 12 fewer wells drilled, and a deferment of gas compression, all of which significantly improved the project’s economics.

¨     Consulted/assisted on several ongoing engineering projects.  Work contributed to project approvals for(Intermediate and Deep) water injection, and to the (volatile oil depletion) and (gas/water injection) developments.

¨     Provided engineering software support for fields, which included the North Field in the Middle East and several Nigerian reservoirs.

-     Made modifications to the code to meet specific field requirements.

-     Provided the support necessary to bring the simulation studies to a successful conclusion.

¨     Consulted for the Major oil company in Russia.  Served in a mentoring role with several Russian engineers using the Eclipse simulator in developing a large model for the Luginesk field.  Purpose of the study was to modify the reservoir strategy of water injection in a field with a large primary gas cap.

¨     Managed a small engineering consulting firm, which entailed the handling of tax issues, unemployment, payroll, accounting, invoicing, and marketing.

Large Energy Corporation

Exploration and Producing Technology Co.                                                     1989-2000

Reservoir Engineering Consultant -  Texas

¨     Consulted as reservoir engineering/simulation expert on major reservoir studies during the period 1990-99.  Guided the construction of models and consulted on interpretation of results.  Work contributed to major project revisions, which significantly reduced well and surface facilities costs, and in one case, added 200 million barrels of reserves.

¨     Served as team lead on maintenance and support team of proprietary simulation software.  Made significant contributions to program capabilities to meet company’s modeling needs in the field, and provided user support.  Company’s simulation software and expertise had been effectively applied on over 50 of its major oil and gas assets worldwide.

¨     Consulted as reservoir engineer on non-simulation projects.  Frequently reviewed work and conclusions presented by company partners which lessened company’s risk in multi-million dollar projects.

¨     Designed and delivered regular reservoir simulation courses at company’s affiliate sites.  Courses always received high ratings by the participants.  In addition, trained over sixty engineers one-on-one in simulation technology.

¨     Developed part of the code and mathematical algorithms used in properitary software.

Internationl Energy Corporation – German Division                                             1985-1989

Staff Reservoir Engineer - Germany

¨     Provided engineering expertise and documentation for company’s case in an equity dispute that was eventually resolved with company’s gaining its previously estimated share (90%) of the reserves.

¨     Conducted reservoir engineering studies to help determine future development of oil and gas fields.  Applied classical reservoir engineering, well test technology, and simulation techniques that contributed to one of company’s most profitable affiliates.

Major Energy Research and Development Corp.                                                                       1981-1985

Research Engineer – Texas

¨     Created two-dimensional chemical flooding/polymer simulator using the finite element method.  This simulator was applied in several research projects.

RESERVOIR EVALUATIONS PERFORMED

¨     Taiwan TCS Gas Storage: Led a team of engineers to convert a 1.3 Tscf gas-producing field to gas storage.  Application of 13 horizontal and 6 deviated wells for 660 tons/hour up to 1500 tons/hour deliverability.  Results: Determined cushion gas requirements and the number and locations of new wells for each deliverability scenario.  The analysis accounted for an active aquifer.

¨     Qatar North Field: Lean gas condensate, 10-30 Tscf in different project areas, 15 wells initially in project area, over 150 wells in total field, compositional model, 6-10 components.  Results: project design to meet deliverability for gas-sales contracts, minimize H2S production to delay $600 million investment by several years, predict condensate recovery given different field development scenarios.

¨     Indonesia Arun Field: Gas condensate (78 barrels/MMscf), 20 Tscf in place, 100 wells, compositional model, 9 components, surface facilities model coupled to the reservoir.  Results: matched pressure, CGR, water vapor, CO2, and stabilized condensate over 25 years of history, model used to optimize surface facilities and reduce expenditures by $100 million.

¨     Nigeria Asabo and Isobo Fields: Light oil, 660  and 415 million barrels, black oil model.  Results: pressures, GOR and water cut matched over 30-year production history.  Study showed a 15-20% increase in recovery using gas injection, which has been recently planned for both fields.

¨     Norway Smorbukk South: Volatile oil, 400 million barrels, compositional model, 7 components.  Results: indicated effectiveness of gas injection.  Project was initiated in combination with other fields in the area.
