This is an excellent opportunity to provide input into the development plan, reservoir modeling and tactics to optimize reservoir performance and performance monitoring.
Key Duties and Contributions will Include:
Working in a collaborative environment to develop 3-D models of the Formation, using the Petrel software suite, based on sound knowledge of geostatistics and modeling theory
- Integrating geology and reservoir engineering principles into the geocellular models
- Producing up-scaled data sets of the 3-D models for input into thermal flow simulators
- Understanding key elements regarding cap-rock integrity
- Keeping abreast of new oil sands knowledge and the performance of existing thermal projects
- Championing and supporting oil sands research and development programs
Qualifications: Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Geosciences, a Master’s degree would be an asset
- Be a registered Professional Geologist (or eligible to attain Professional status with APEGGA)
- A minimum of 12 years of progressive skill development in creating and applying geomodeling to developing thermal oil recovery projects
- Practical experience with 3-D thermal reservoir modeling techniques, including a solid skill level using Petrel software
- Solid understanding of geostatistical methods
- Good knowledge of clastic sedimentology and stratigraphy
- Versed in the various types of clastic depositional models
- Good knowledge of wireline and MWD/LWD logs as well as formation evaluation
- Experience in the interpretation and application of geophysics in constructing geological models
- Strong ability to assess and understand the impacts of new data and react in a timely fashion
- Excellent organizational and planning skills to set and exceed established goals, schedules, and deadlines, often under tight time lines and with shifting priorities
- Proven ability to work in a team environment dealing with people from various disciplines
- Self-starter with a positive attitude and a bias for achieving results
- Strong computing skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills to effectively interact with a variety of personnel, and other industry participants, both internal and external.
