The successful candidate will have:

A Bachelor’s degree in Geology, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a combination of logging operations, log analysis, and/or geology
Currently registered, or eligible for registration with The Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA)

The Senior Petrophysicist will support prospect evaluation work by providing both qualitative and quantitative analysis of data relevant to formation evaluation and reservoir characterization. This evaluation work will require integration of information derived from a variety of sources including open and cased hole well logs, mud logs, sidewall cores, full cores, RFT / MDT pressure test / fluid samples, mini-fracs, Diagnostic Fracture Injectivity Tests (DFIT), geochem analysis, and the like. Additionally, the role may also perform advanced geomechanics evaluation in order to make predictions related to wellbore stability assessment, formation sanding potential, principal present-day stresses analysis, and mechanical property determination useful in defining barriers to hydraulic fracture growth. Characterization of naturally fractured reservoirs will be an important aspect of the job.

Minimum Requirements:

Worked with operations on facility optimization and maintenance programs including initiating operating cost reduction and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction strategies.
Worked closely on the design, scoping, estimating, AFE management and execution of these projects with EPC, construction, safety and operations groups. (including commissioning, HAZOP, management of change (MOC), shutdown key reviews and conducting extensive lookbacks)

Primary completions lead engineer for the 2005 Shallow Gas infill capital program consisting of 560 new shallow gas wells. Well workover activity included identifying 150 re-fracs and 100 re-completions. Suffield gas had an overall capital budget of $110 MM.
Responsible for designing and programming of 400 shallow gas wells for multiple zone completion and stimulation, worked with multidisciplinary team to develop and coordinate area budgets for completions and workover activity.
Worked with business services on hiring of service rigs and completion services, cost estimate, AFE generation and taking well calls. Supervised two lead field completion consultants (up to eight total).
Worked with multidisciplinary team to identify new well and workover candidates, supervised and mentored junior staff and summer interns on programming new well and workover candidates.
Coordinated bi-weekly field meetings with completion consultants, operations, area construction coordinator and area safety coordinator to review completion and construction crew movement and to conduct a safety review.
Implemented new frac and perforating strategy developed by team to help reduce per well cost while focusing on continuous load leveling throughout the year.

Worked directly with other SBU’s (Brooks area SBU’s) to obtain and better utilize area frac services, including logging, perforating, tank storage and trucking services.

Primary SBU production / facilities engineer for new facility, facility modification, facility optimization, new pipeline installation, gas well de-liquification and gas gathering system optimization for the areas.

Selected candidate will be responsible for the overall health and safety management of all personnel working on a FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) vessel. You will be accountable for managing all aspects of the business on the installation including the following:

Managing all aspects of the offshore operation as the highest authority on board the FPSO
Supporting and maintaining the quality management program relative to the FPSO operations
Establishing and managing Loss Control responsibility
Promoting a safety culture where all personnel have an understanding of the Safety Plan and operate rigorously in accordance with it
Assuming responsibility for the command and control of the onboard response organization in the event of an emergency
Ensuring strict implementation of the Permit to Work (PTW) system
Ensuring that regular Emergency Response drills are carried out in compliance with regulations

This deepwater project is a multi-TCF gas pool being developed currently. The project is slated to be on production in 1 to 2 years at an estimated cost in excess of $2 billion. The team is looking for a Senior Geophysicist. In this role you will hold a key technical position within the integrated Subsurface Team for several deepwater blocks. Primary responsibilities will include the various geophysical activities required for the delineation and development of deepwater projects together with exploration, delineation and development activities within their deepwater portfolio. This will include geophysical mapping, reservoir and pay prediction, providing recommendations for drilling locations, evaluation of drilling results, together with assessments of original in-place hydrocarbons and the provision of geophysical inputs for field ODP (Overall Development Plan) reporting. Position will initially be Calgary based but the incumbent must be willing to relocate to SE Asia if required (possibly by end of 2010 ex-pat). Key responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

Undertaking the geophysical interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data
Applying advanced 3D seismic interpretation techniques, including AVO and seismic inversion
Developing and recommending well locations and evaluation programs
Preparing recommendations and documentation in support of drilling and evaluation programs
Providing geophysical interpretation for hydrocarbon volumetric evaluations
Acting as a technical specialist and resource to the team on all geophysical matters
Providing geophysical inputs into Overall Development Plans
Implementing project plans and schedules in a timely manner
Ensuring that a culture of strong and effective team-work exists in the subsurface Team
Interfacing with partners and government authorities

Qualifications:

Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

A B.Sc./M.Sc. degree in the Geosciences
APPEGA “Professional Geologist” designation or eligibility for same
A minimum of 15 years’ experience as a development and exploration geophysicist with at least 10 years working on international projects
A strong geological background and understanding of marine depositional systems, including deepwater
Sound knowledge of geological, geophysical and/or reservoir engineering disciplines
A thorough understanding of seismic inversion and other specialist geophysical techniques would be an asset
3D and 2D seismic interpretation skills are required
Working knowledge of seismic inversion and AVO techniques is preferred
Experience with Jason inversion software
Proven track record in prospect generation and mapping
Strong command of the English language, with good oral and written communication skills

Excellent opportunity for an experience Senior Reservoir Engineer to join our client an International oil and gas company with operations. The company aims to provide long-term growth and continue to develop technologies and manage projects that will meet the world’s energy and climate changes in a sustainable way.

Our client currently holds a substantial land base of oil sands leases in Northern Alberta which will result in full field development producing over 200,000 bbl/d. The Oil sands Pilot is coming on stream in 2010 at 20,000 bbl/d with plans for further expansion, and the current 10,000 bbl/d SAGD facility is on schedule. The second Oil sands Project is in the planning phase for developing a 40,000 bbl/d commercial plant. The objective of this position is to provide reservoir engineering and simulation support to the development of oil sands assets by using SAGD, solvent co-injection and/or other novel thermal recovery technologies. While you will report directly to the Manager, Reservoir Studies, you may also be seconded to other Division or Department on a short-term basis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct numerical modeling, subsurface studies and exploitation planning. Generate production forecasts using reservoir simulation, production analysis and other reservoir engineering techniques. Optimize well pattern layouts, development sequences and well placement. Formulate fit for purpose reservoir surveillance plans to collect reservoir data. Analyze subsurface and surface field data to obtain key reservoir/well performance parameters. Perform regional studies (including analyzing competitor public data) to improve understanding of the SAGD process. Generate risked OBIP, production profiles, recoverable volumes for reservoir management. Participate in the reserve booking process including the evaluation, documentation, presentation and the reporting steps. Liaison with external partners and regulatory agencies. Support regulatory processes including technical justifications to the regulator and offsetting operators. Formulate and implement laboratory data acquisition programs including costing and vendor selection. As an asset team member, actively participate in revising development plans and capital cost forecasts as required. Provide input to economic evaluations, new land acquisition and joint venture opportunities as required. Assist in mentoring less experienced Engineers, EITs and intern students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ideal candidates must be a Canadian Citizen or be a Canadian Landed Immigrant. Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and APEGGA membership (P.Eng. designation) is required. 10+ years experience in reservoir engineering and related experience working within an integrated team including Geology, Geophysics and other Engineering disciplines. 10 years minimum experience with the SAGD development process is required. Reservoir experience in thermal recovery of bitumen is required. Exposure to steam solvent co-injection and/or Gas-Over-Bitumen is preferred. Experience with STARS, Exotherm or Eclipse Thermal simulation is required. Strong subsurface technical management skills. Ability to provide recommendations under varying timelines and working with sometimes limited or conflicting data. You must be a self-starter and be able to handle multiple projects concurrently.

The Development Project Team is looking for a Reservoir Simulation Engineer to be responsible for the maximization of reserves and the optimization of the development well locations for deepwater field developments. In this role you will be responsible for carrying out accurate reservoir simulation and synthesis for the field(s) in association with other Reservoir Engineers and Geoscientists, and will provide reservoir engineering input to the team as required.

Specific responsibilities include: `

Develop 3D reservoir simulation models that accurately reflect all the available geological and reservoir engineering data, and provide reservoir depletion plans
Assist in the planning and execution of depletion/drilling strategies within a team environment

This is a senior professional position which, as part of the Petrophysical Team, provides petrophysical support to Business Units and Exploration Districts. In the role of Senior Staff Petrophysicist, you will evaluate petrophysical data from the Company and partner operated wells for the purpose of establishing drill stem test intervals, completion and/or abandonment decisions, perforation intervals, reservoir potential and reserves estimates. An important aspect of the position is to conduct multi-well analysis projects in support of Enhanced Oil recovery (EOR) and unconventional resource play projects.
