Senior Staff Production Engineer

This project is a multi-TCF gas pool being developed by the operator and its partner. The project is slated to be on production in 2 years at an estimated cost in excess of $2 billion.  Our Team is looking to fill a key technical position. We are seeking a Senior Staff Production Engineer to be based in Calgary, Alberta. This position represents a key technical position within the integrated Subsurface Team for multiple deepwater blocks.   Working within a fully integrated team you will be responsible for providing production engineering expertise for the offshore deepwater gas field development project and other fields within the portfolio. This role requires experience in deepwater gas developments, including experience in design, production and analysis.   The position will initially be Calgary based but incumbent must be willing to relocate to if required (ex-pat).

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a technical specialist and resource to the team on all production engineering  matters
  • Preparing recommendations and documentation in support of deepwater gas field development and production engineering
  • Design and support well completion, re-completion, stimulation and abandonment
  • Design and implement workover, artificial lift and sand control
  • Initial and final production rate (IPR/TPR) outflow performance evaluation and tubing selection along with optimum rate determination
  • Well performance analysis, diagnosis and well surveillance
  • Production, injection data management for daily data reporting and analysis
  • Ensure adequate well start-up and shut-down procedures are prepared and followed for deepwater wells
  • Assist in the development and implementation of flow assurance techniques and program
  • Identify risks and risk mitigation strategies/actions

Our client, a leader in Global Energy, is seeking an Offshore Installation Manager (OIM).  Selected candidate will be responsible for the overall health and safety management of all personnel working on a FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) vessel.  You will be accountable for managing all aspects of the business on the installation including the following:

  • Managing all aspects of the offshore operation as the highest authority on board the FPSO
  • Supporting and maintaining the quality management program relative to the FPSO operations
  • Establishing and managing Loss Control responsibility
  • Promoting a safety culture where all personnel have an understanding of the Safety Plan and operate rigorously in accordance with it

Qualifications  The selected candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • A relevant engineering degree or technical diploma would be a definite asset
  • Minimum of 15 years of petroleum industry experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory/management position preferably as an Offshore Installation Manager
  • Offshore experience, which includes FPSO experience is a must
  • Strong understanding of production operations, especially in an offshore environment

  • Thorough knowledge of equipment, operating practices and the required personnel associated with an offshore operation

This deepwater project is a multi-TCF gas pool being developed currently. The project is slated to be on production in 1 to 2 years at an estimated cost in excess of $2 billion. The team is looking for a Senior Geophysicist. In this role you will hold a key technical position within the integrated Subsurface Team for several deepwater blocks. Primary responsibilities will include the various geophysical activities required for the delineation and development of deepwater projects together with exploration, delineation and development activities within their deepwater portfolio. This will include geophysical mapping, reservoir and pay prediction, providing recommendations for drilling locations, evaluation of drilling results, together with assessments of original in-place hydrocarbons and the provision of geophysical inputs for field ODP (Overall Development Plan) reporting.   Position will initially be Calgary based but the incumbent must be willing to relocate to SE Asia if required (possibly by end of 2010 ex-pat). Key responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Undertaking the geophysical interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data
  • Applying advanced 3D seismic interpretation techniques, including AVO and seismic inversion
  • Developing and recommending well locations and evaluation programs
  • Preparing recommendations and documentation in support of drilling and evaluation programs
  • Providing geophysical interpretation for hydrocarbon volumetric evaluations
  • Acting as a technical specialist and resource to the team on all geophysical matters

Excellent opportunity for an experience Senior Reservoir Engineer to join our client an International oil and gas company with operations.  The company aims to provide long-term growth and continue to develop technologies and manage projects that will meet the world’s energy and climate changes in a sustainable way.

Our client currently holds a substantial land base of oil sands leases in Northern Alberta which will result in full field development producing over 200,000 bbl/d. The Oil sands Pilot is coming on stream in 2010 at 20,000 bbl/d with plans for further expansion, and the current 10,000 bbl/d SAGD facility is on schedule. The second Oil sands Project is in the planning phase for developing a 40,000 bbl/d commercial plant. The objective of this position is to provide reservoir engineering and simulation support to the development of oil sands assets by using SAGD, solvent co-injection and/or other novel thermal recovery technologies. While you will report directly to the Manager, Reservoir Studies, you  may also be seconded to other Division or Department on a short-term basis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct numerical modeling, subsurface studies and exploitation planning. Generate production forecasts using reservoir simulation, production analysis and other reservoir engineering techniques. Optimize well pattern layouts, development sequences and well placement. Formulate fit for purpose reservoir surveillance plans to collect reservoir data. Analyze subsurface and surface field data to obtain key reservoir/well performance parameters. Perform regional studies (including analyzing competitor public data) to improve understanding of the SAGD process. Generate risked OBIP, production profiles, recoverable volumes for reservoir management. Participate in the reserve booking process including the evaluation, documentation, presentation and the reporting steps. Liaison with external partners and regulatory agencies. Support regulatory processes including technical justifications to the regulator and offsetting operators. Formulate and implement laboratory data acquisition programs including costing and vendor selection. As an asset team member, actively participate in revising development plans and capital cost forecasts as required. Provide input to economic evaluations, new land acquisition and joint venture opportunities as required. Assist in mentoring less experienced Engineers, EITs and intern students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ideal candidates must be a Canadian Citizen or be a Canadian Landed Immigrant. Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and APEGGA membership (P.Eng. designation) is required. 10+ years experience in reservoir engineering and related experience working within an integrated team including Geology, Geophysics and other Engineering disciplines. 10 years minimum experience with the SAGD development process is required. Reservoir experience in thermal recovery of bitumen is required. Exposure to steam solvent co-injection and/or Gas-Over-Bitumen is preferred. Experience with STARS, Exotherm or Eclipse Thermal simulation is required. Strong subsurface technical management skills. Ability to provide recommendations under varying timelines and working with sometimes limited or conflicting data. You must be a self-starter and be able to handle multiple projects concurrently.

The Development Project Team is looking for a Reservoir Simulation Engineer to be responsible for the maximization of reserves and the optimization of the development well locations for deepwater field developments. In this role you will be responsible for carrying out accurate reservoir simulation and synthesis for the field(s) in association with other Reservoir Engineers and Geoscientists, and will provide reservoir engineering input to the team as required.
Specific responsibilities include: `
  • Develop 3D reservoir simulation models that accurately reflect all the available geological and reservoir engineering data, and provide reservoir depletion plans
  • Assist in the planning and execution of depletion/drilling strategies within a team environment
  • Help define and optimize the reservoir management strategy, development well locations and well design and production profiles
