DRILLING ENGINEER

Global Energy Company is seeking an experienced Drilling Engineer to join their team in Houston, Texas.  This key position will be responsible for working with organization’s various Reservoir Management Team leaders providing engineering, operations, regulatory and supply chain management support for all exploration and development well work.

  • Leads the Reservoir Management Team (RMT) or Exploration Team in developing specific well plans.
  • Active participation and documentation of RMT or Exploration Team meetings.  Takes an active role in managing working interest partners during the planning and execution phase of the project.
  • Identifies and evaluates appropriate offset wells.  Leads internal well design reviews and risk assessments for assigned wells.
  • Develops well designs and confirms pore pressure/fracture gradient predictions.
  • Writes drilling procedures for assigned wells.  Documents all well design changes using MOC process.
  • Provides technical support on daily drilling operations and is the primary contact for field engineering issues.
  • Provides full time engineering support to assigned drilling rig(s).  Monitors daily morning report, and facilitates data error corrections and coding.  Primary responsibility for well file population and management for assigned wells.
  • Provides internal and external benchmarking and end of well reports.  Coordinates and communicates end of well reviews.  Leads the joint review with the RMT or Exploration Team
  • Assures assigned wells are properly permitted.  Serves as a primary liaison with Governmental Regulatory Offices for assigned wells.
  • Evaluates activities against pre-established goals.  Makes recommendations based on evaluations.
  • Full understanding of, and active participation in, HESMS Program.  Accountable for knowledge of and compliance with all applicable regulations and Company HES training requirements and policies.
  • Manages contracts and contractors to continuous improvement via the Contract and Contractor Management Standard.
  • Responsible for preparing tenders, analyzing vendor response, awarding contracts, and administering assigned contracts.
  • Assists with timely procurement of material, equipment and personnel.  Reviews and approves invoices for accuracy.
  • Provides relief for Drilling Engineering Supervisor and/or Drilling Superintendent, as required, during their absence.
  • Assist the BU’s on equipment QA/QC and evaluation of new technology.

Your duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:


•Ensures that all completions and stimulations projects have dedicated engineering manpower. Assigns engineering staff to projects.

•Ensures completions and stimulations designs are safe, efficient and employ “best practices”.

•Works with the Engineers & Superintendents to ensure drilling projects are executed optimally.

•Assign Contract responsibilities to Engineers and ensure compliance w/ Contractor Management standards.

Senior Staff Production Engineer

This project is a multi-TCF gas pool being developed by the operator and its partner. The project is slated to be on production in 2 years at an estimated cost in excess of $2 billion.  Our Team is looking to fill a key technical position. We are seeking a Senior Staff Production Engineer to be based in Calgary, Alberta. This position represents a key technical position within the integrated Subsurface Team for multiple deepwater blocks.   Working within a fully integrated team you will be responsible for providing production engineering expertise for the offshore deepwater gas field development project and other fields within the portfolio. This role requires experience in deepwater gas developments, including experience in design, production and analysis.   The position will initially be Calgary based but incumbent must be willing to relocate to if required (ex-pat).

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a technical specialist and resource to the team on all production engineering  matters
  • Preparing recommendations and documentation in support of deepwater gas field development and production engineering
