In this key management level role you will be responsible for managing a five drilling rig program with quarterly trips to the field.  You will maintain and manage a dynamic drilling schedule and prepare daily drilling report. Troubleshoot daily drilling issues; supervise rig consultants and drilling superintendent to remedy any problems.  Responsible for evaluating and implementing new drilling practices and technologies needed to improve rig performance and safety.  Review and approve expenditures for rig activities and make recommendations to reduce costs and enhance overall efficiencies.  You will prepare the economics, pre-spud drilling package and post job wellbore diagrams and present to senior management.

Leading Global Energy Firm in Southern California is seeking an experienced Geophysical Advisor to join the Exploration Team in Southern California.

Key duties and responsibilities include the following:Work with geologists, reservoir engineers and landmen to develop new drilling opportunities and a strategic exploration/exploitation business plan to capture these opportunities and add value. Identify plays and prospects; evaluate and create a risked inventory of exploration and exploitation prospects within California.

Screen, evaluate and recommend participation in externally generated opportunities that complement the Company’s exploration focus.

 

To be qualified for this position you must possess the following required qualifications:
  • BS degree in Geology or related field
  • Ten or more years of industry experience
  • Proven track record of generating prospects and discovering hydrocarbons
  • Advanced skills in 2D and 3D seismic interpretation including inversion and attribute mapping
  • Ability to integrate 2D and 3D seismic interpretation with geologic data into a comprehensive evaluation of prospects
  • Ability to evaluate technical risks relating to trap, reservoir, charge and seal, and combine them with economic and engineering data to develop a comprehensive business picture for decision making
  • Experienced in reserve estimation and evaluation of prospect economics
  • Familiarity with data acquisition, acquisition project planning, QC and processing
  • Ability to communicate information and evaluations in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in written format
  • Ability to contribute effectively and creatively as an individual and as a member of multidisciplinary teams
  • Time management skills to personally plan work and execute large studies, work multiple projects and meet goals within time constraints
  • Strong business acumen
  • Proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word

SENIOR GEOMODELER

Apply your advanced education and experience as a Senior Geomodeler for a leading Energy Company in Houston, Texas.

Using your advance knowledge you will be responsible for the following:

* working with geologists, geophysicists, petrophysicists and reservoir engineers to evaluate and assure the quality of model input data and interpretations;

* performing or evaluating core analysis and core description for facies /rock type determination;

* building structural and stratigraphic frameworks that accurately capture flow unit/flow barrier architecture;

* performing 1-D to 3-D petrophysical modeling of facies/rock types, porosity, initial water saturation, and permeability;

* building multiple model realizations and scenarios to evaluate uncertainty and related risk in reserves distributions,

* working closely with reservoir simulation engineers to appropriately upscale and history match models, 

* working with development geologists, reservoir engineers, and drilling engineers to optimize development planning and project execution.

The successful candidate will work cooperatively within a multi-disciplinary, integrated team, will proactively plan and undertake reservoir characterization studies and development planning activities, will effectively communicate information and evaluations to team members and management in a timely manner, and will be a mentor to other disciplines. Expertise or working knowledge of sequence stratigraphic analysis, structural analysis, geophysical mapping, petrophysical analysis, 3D reservoir modeling, field development planning, and uncertainty and risk management.

To be considered for this opportunity you must possess the following required qualifications:
* Advanced Degree in Geology (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) with 15 years of oil & gas industry experience
* 3 years of advanced experience in 3D geological modeling, preferably in Petrel
* Experience in integrating core, well log, geophysical, petrophysical, production, and engineering data into a coherent framework
* Experience in core analysis and description, lithofacies analysis, and rock typing
* Understanding of geostatistics and fundamental geostatistical algorithms as well as data and interpretation uncertainties and their influence on modeling and business decisions 

* Experience in probabilistic and multi-scenario reserves estimation
* Ability to work well within an integrated multi-disciplinary team
* Ability to communicate information and evaluations both written and oral
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Good business acumen
* International travel required

The following additional qualifications are preferred:

  

* Experience with EOR methods helpful
* Experience with carbonate and/or fractured reservoirs (e.g., DFN modeling)

Your primary job duties directly involve support of drilling activities, reservoir studies, and well performance evaluations with the ultimate goal of optimizing operations and recovery.  The successful candidate will be involved in the design, implementation and evaluation of logging programs on newly drilled wells.  In addition, this position will re-assess  existing data to validate prior petrophysical assumptions and look for bypassed reserves.
Required Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Geoscience or Engineering
  • 5 or more years Petrophysical Engineering experience
  • Working knowledge of leading industry standard petrophysical software packages (IP, Powerlog, Recall, Openworks, Emraude, PST etc)
  • Working knowledge of logging operations required for difficult logging conditions (HPHT)
  • Familiarity with advanced methods of core retrieval handling and competent in the design of conventional and special core analysis programs.
  • Possess effective technical presentation and writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline team environment
Additional Desired Qualifications:
  • Tight Gas Experience, preferably in South Texas OR Shale Oil and Gas Experience, preferably in Williston Basin
  • Familiarity with logging requirements for horizontal well sections, including equipment and risks
