Our Client, a Major Independent Exploration and Production company has an opportunity for a Senior Petrophysicist with strong North American Onshore unconventional reservoirs experience. The Senior Petrophysicist will support prospect evaluation work by providing both qualitative and quantitative analysis of data relevant to formation evaluation and reservoir characterization. This evaluation work will require integration of information derived from a variety of sources including open and cased hole well logs, mud logs, sidewall cores, full cores, RFT / MDT pressure test / fluid samples, mini-fracs, Diagnostic Fracture Injectivity Tests (DFIT), geochem analysis, and the like. Additionally, the role may also perform advanced geomechanics evaluation in order to make predictions related to wellbore stability assessment, formation sanding potential, principal present-day stresses analysis, and mechanical property determination useful in defining barriers to hydraulic fracture growth. Characterization of naturally fractured reservoirs will be an important aspect of the job.

Minimum Requirements:

Viable candidates must have at least an undergraduate degree in Engineering or Geosciences and a minimum of 15 years of relevant formation evaluation experience as a Petrophysicist including significant experience in unconventional resource plays.

In this key role, you will be responsible for providing operational petrophysical support to wells drilling, providing mentoring to junior level Petrophysicists, providing comprehensive formation evaluation program recommendations to all proposed wells.

You will apply your keen petrophysical interpretation techniques using state-of-the-art technology and be involved in petrophysical regional studies to support exploration & development teams.

The ideal candidate will have at minimum of a BS in Geology, Petroleum Engineering or Physics, with a very strong preference for an advance level degree.  You must possess at least 15 or more years of experience petrophysical interpretation and operations. Senior Reservoir Engineer Thermal SAGD

Excellent opportunity for an experience Senior Reservoir Engineer to join our client an International oil and gas company with operations.  The company aims to provide long-term growth and continue to develop technologies and manage projects that will meet the world’s energy and climate changes in a sustainable way.

Our client currently holds a substantial land base of oil sands leases in Northern Alberta which will result in full field development producing over 200,000 bbl/d. The Oil sands Pilot is coming on stream in 2010 at 20,000 bbl/d with plans for further expansion, and the current 10,000 bbl/d SAGD facility is on schedule. The second Oil sands Project is in the planning phase for developing a 40,000 bbl/d commercial plant. The objective of this position is to provide reservoir engineering and simulation support to the development of oil sands assets by using SAGD, solvent co-injection and/or other novel thermal recovery technologies. While you will report directly to the Manager, Reservoir Studies, you  may also be seconded to other Division or Department on a short-term basis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct numerical modeling, subsurface studies and exploitation planning. Generate production forecasts using reservoir simulation, production analysis and other reservoir engineering techniques. Optimize well pattern layouts, development sequences and well placement. Formulate fit for purpose reservoir surveillance plans to collect reservoir data. Analyze subsurface and surface field data to obtain key reservoir/well performance parameters. Perform regional studies (including analyzing competitor public data) to improve understanding of the SAGD process. Generate risked OBIP, production profiles, recoverable volumes for reservoir management. Participate in the reserve booking process including the evaluation, documentation, presentation and the reporting steps. Liaison with external partners and regulatory agencies. Support regulatory processes including technical justifications to the regulator and offsetting operators. Formulate and implement laboratory data acquisition programs including costing and vendor selection. As an asset team member, actively participate in revising development plans and capital cost forecasts as required. Provide input to economic evaluations, new land acquisition and joint venture opportunities as required. Assist in mentoring less experienced Engineers, EITs and intern students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ideal candidates must be a Canadian Citizen or be a Canadian Landed Immigrant. Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and APEGGA membership (P.Eng. designation) is required. 10+ years experience in reservoir engineering and related experience working within an integrated team including Geology, Geophysics and other Engineering disciplines. 10 years minimum experience with the SAGD development process is required. Reservoir experience in thermal recovery of bitumen is required. Exposure to steam solvent co-injection and/or Gas-Over-Bitumen is preferred. Experience with STARS, Exotherm or Eclipse Thermal simulation is required. Strong subsurface technical management skills. Ability to provide recommendations under varying timelines and working with sometimes limited or conflicting data. You must be a self-starter and be able to handle multiple projects concurrently.
