  • Primary completions lead engineer for the 2005 Shallow Gas infill capital program consisting of 560 new shallow gas wells. Well workover activity included identifying 150 re-fracs and 100 re-completions.  Suffield gas had an overall capital budget of $110 MM.
  • Responsible for designing and programming of 400 shallow gas wells for multiple zone completion and stimulation, worked with multidisciplinary team to develop and coordinate area budgets for completions and workover activity.
  • Worked with business services on hiring of service rigs and completion services, cost estimate, AFE generation and taking well calls.  Supervised two lead field completion consultants (up to eight total).

This deepwater project is a multi-TCF gas pool being developed currently. The project is slated to be on production in 1 to 2 years at an estimated cost in excess of $2 billion. The team is looking for a Senior Geophysicist. In this role you will hold a key technical position within the integrated Subsurface Team for several deepwater blocks. Primary responsibilities will include the various geophysical activities required for the delineation and development of deepwater projects together with exploration, delineation and development activities within their deepwater portfolio. This will include geophysical mapping, reservoir and pay prediction, providing recommendations for drilling locations, evaluation of drilling results, together with assessments of original in-place hydrocarbons and the provision of geophysical inputs for field ODP (Overall Development Plan) reporting.   Position will initially be Calgary based but the incumbent must be willing to relocate to SE Asia if required (possibly by end of 2010 ex-pat). Key responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Undertaking the geophysical interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data
  • Applying advanced 3D seismic interpretation techniques, including AVO and seismic inversion
  • Developing and recommending well locations and evaluation programs
  • Preparing recommendations and documentation in support of drilling and evaluation programs

Qualifications:

  • A strong geological background and understanding of marine depositional systems, including deepwater

Senior Staff Petrophysicist

This is a senior professional position which, as part of the Petrophysical Team, provides petrophysical support to Business Units and Exploration Districts. In the role of Senior Staff Petrophysicist, you will evaluate petrophysical data from the Company and partner operated wells for the purpose of establishing drill stem test intervals, completion and/or abandonment decisions, perforation intervals, reservoir potential and reserves estimates. An important aspect of the position is to conduct multi-well analysis projects in support of Enhanced Oil recovery (EOR) and unconventional resource play projects.  Specific responsibilities of the position are:

  • Design and monitor formation evaluation programs
  • Ensure quality of load data
  • Conduct petrophysical analyses on single wells and on multi-well projects
  • Mentor and advise staff on petrophysical data and interpretations


Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Geology, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a combination of logging operations, log analysis, and/or geology
  • Currently registered, or eligible for registration with The Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in designing and monitoring logging programs and conducting petrophysical evaluations of single wells and multi-well projects
  • Experience in the evaluation of unconventional reservoirs
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Well developed oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Good organizational skills to handle a wide variety of tasks and priorities
  • Ability to mentor and train less experienced staff on petrophysical issues
  • Strong computer skills with experience in Interactive Petrophysics is an asset
