This key Geosciences position supports development field activities by providing database management and supporting Geologists and Geophysicists with ongoing development drilling activities and integration of field and regional geological knowledge into development prospects.

Key duties are, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide database management including loading, entering, verifying, manipulating, analyzing and reporting data related to wells, seismic and leases.
  • Utilize ARCGIS tools to prepare maps in support of oil and gas exploration and scouting efforts.
  • Utilize Linux-based LANDMARK applications such as STRATWORKS to produce analytical interpretation and cross-correlation of well data; ZMAP to enable generation of contoured maps; and OPENWORKS for the storage of well and seismic data and interpretations.
  • Prepare slides, montages and reports in support of technical presentations and recommendations.
  • Provide software systems support to team personnel and troubleshoot user problems.
  • Assist with project development and project surveillance.
  • Support the construction of 2D-3D geological models using maps and cross-sections from Landmark Suite Applications and/or Petrel Software in conjunction with geotechnical data from the OpenWorks database.
  • Responsible for carrying out his or her work in accordance with the HESMS guidelines and the principles and policies established by the Company.

Required Qualifications:
  • B.S. Geoscience, Geography, Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience with ARCGIS tools; LANDMARK applications such as STRATWORKS/Geographix, ZMAP, and OPENWORKS database management tools plus geological modeling software (ie Petrel) and reservoir management software (ie DSS). 
  • Demonstrated strength in MS Office Suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as time management skills (i.e. able to meet short deadlines and work multiple projects).

PROFESSIONAL  EXPERIENCE

Rock Core Identification and Correlation / State Department of Transportation /Member of an engineering investigation project for a new interstate, assisted with the identification and correlation of over 2,000 of rock core from various locations. Assisted with the preparation of cross-sections and boring logs.

Landfill Permit Preparation / Private Client / Member of an engineering and hydrogeology team, assisted with the site investigation boring program and preparation of cross sections for a restricted waste landfill permit application. Assisted with the preparation of geology and hydrogeology portions of the permit narrative.

Foundry and Coal Combustion Waste Classification / Private Client / Assisted with the development of a sampling and analysis plan for the analysis of foundry and coal combustion waste stream. Evaluated analytical results for waste stream and determined waste classifications based on statistical analysis methods in SW-846, IDEM guidance, and Indiana’s Solid Waste Regulations.

Coal Refuse Delineation/ State Department of Natural Resources / Assisted with the soil and rock classification, monitoring well installation and site conceptual model development at an abandoned mine land in Terra Haute, Indiana.  Characterization and delineation of the coal refuse was necessary to develop a corrective action plan for the acid mine drainage.

Groundwater Statistical Evaluations / Various State Clients / Managed and assisted with  groundwater statistical evaluations for restricted waste and municipal solid waste Landfill and RCRA sites, utilizing intra-well  and inter-well statistics in excel and DumpStat software. Prepared relevant investigative and remedial documents for submittal to the state agencies.

Statistical Evaluation Plans (StEP) / Various Clients / Developed and modified statistical evaluation plans for restricted waste and municipal solid waste landfill monitoring for submittal to the IDEM.

Site Characterization per RISC Guidelines / Various Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) Sites and Chlorinated Solvent Sites/ Managed and performed the tasks associated with evaluating the nature and extent of petroleum and chlorinated solvent releases.  These tasks involve coordinating site investigations, collecting geologic, hydrologic and ecologic data and report generation.

Corrective Action Plan Development and Implementation/ Various LUST and Chlorinated Solvent Sites / Provide the client with the most applicable remedial technology that best satisfies the needs of the client.  CAPs implemented at UST sites have included dual phase high-vacuum extraction, mobile vacuum enhanced recovery, natural attenuation monitoring,  source removal, and risk assessment calculations.

UST Closure / Various Clients / Managed and conducted a UST removals and closure in accordance with the IDEM’s RISC program and 1994 UST Branch Guidance.

Hydrogeology / Various State Clients / Conducted percolation and hydraulic conductivity testing to determine the hydraulic characteristics of subsurface aquifers and soil for evaluation.

Phase I Environmental Assessments / Various State Clients /Performed Phase I Environmental Site Assessments per ASTM guidelines and lender requirements.  Phase I experience includes investigations of residential and commercial properties.
