Senior Staff Reservoir Engineer

Our Client is seeking talented individuals for the position of Senior Reservoir Engineer.  This position is based at the Oklahoma City, OK office and reports to the Manager – Reservoir Engineering. We are actively seeking those with the drive and energy to join the most active drilling company in the U.S. and a desire to be part of a growing enterprise and who value the opportunity to engineer conventional and non-conventional onshore U.S. gas focused assets.   Candidates should be proficient in all areas of Reservoir Engineering including well test analysis, material balance, secondary recovery methods, performance analysis, fluid properties, volumetric recovery methods and project economics.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating project development and implementation with geoscience, drilling, production, and land professionals.
  • Integrating well performance/nodal analysis, pressure transient analysis, material balance, volumetric and decline curve analyses in the evaluation are essential.
  • Performing field and screening studies of existing assets and potential acquisitions, including associated economic analyses.
  • Acquiring and analyzing the necessary test data used to define accurate reservoir characterization.
  • Exploration project evaluations include probabilistic analyses and providing monitoring and surveillance programs for reservoir performance, and coordinate these programs to determine if the development plan is conforming to management strategy.

Qualifications include:

  • Ten (10) plus years of industry experience with a minimum of five (5) years reservoir engineering experience.
  • Expertise in economic evaluation and reserve assessment for exploration programs, development drilling programs, workovers and production optimization opportunities.
  • Knowledge and practical application of volumetric calculations, decline curve reserve determinations, appropriate analogue techniques and material balance assessments.
  • Skills associated with reservoir simulation techniques considered a plus.
  • Aries for reserve reporting and economic calculations. Previous Aries experience is not required but is considered a benefit to any potential candidate.
  • All business decisions are made in a team environment.  Successful candidates should have a broad understanding of the E&P business and be willing and able to communicate effectively with their peers in Geology, Operations and Drilling.
  • Mentoring of less experienced and inexperienced individuals is required.  Candidates should be patient but also willing to leverage the maximum work volume by delegating lesser tasks to associate engineers and engineering technicians.
  • Especially interested in unconventional experience associated with tight gas reservoirs, CBM development and shale gas resource work.

Also Required: A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering

· Prior experience using Visual Basic and/or SQL languages

· Familiarity with SQL Server or Oracle databases

· Prior experience and working knowledge of PEEP and/or Aries.

· Ability to work in a fast paced environment and prioritize workload

Our client, a major financial firm is searching for an additional experienced Engineer to support their financial functions relating to reserves lending. This is an outstanding opportunity to join  a major solid financial institution that has an established presence in the Energy industry.

The ideal candidate will have at least 8-10 yrs of experience in U.S. petroleum reservoir engineering.  You should have been with an upstream E&P company working as a  reservoir or M&A consultant or in a financial institution. Would prefer some financial background if possible, but work with reservoir consultants or M&A firms will be considered. Must be well versed in Office Software programs, especially Excel, as well as Aries and Phd Win reserve programs. In this key role, you will evaluate oil and gas reserves, systems, pipelines and markets in order to support lending and investment decisions. Frequent travel may be involved, primarily in U.S and Canada. Our client is seeking an experienced reservoir engineering tech to work with the corporate reserves team in managing reserves, economics, and company financials. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing technical, economic and analytical support to the Executive Management team.  Responsibilities include maintaining, documenting and providing economic cash flows; project economics; year-end and midyear reserve reports/reconciliations; budget reports; bank and SEC reports, and assistance with acquisition and divestiture projects.  The ideal candidate must possess the ability to work with a multi-functional team and have experience in working with accounting, operations, tax, and production groups.  The candidate must also possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to prioritize projects and work in a fast-paced environment. 

 

The ideal candidate should possess superior skills and ability in economic software such as PHDWin, understand economic analysis and the resulting metrics; have 5-15+ years of Reservoir Tech experience with an operating company; and the ability to work well with limited supervision.  The candidate should be proficient in MS Office, including Excel and Access, and be familiar with production and accounting systems.

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

1.      Managing the Company’s corporate reserves database

2.      Supporting the company’s engineering and executive team in evaluating drilling as well as acquisition, and divestiture opportunities

3.      Building and modeling cases in PHDWin using both economic and projection parameters.

4.      Updating and editing cases within PHDWin including reserve class/cat transfers and revisions.

5.      Running economics and scenarios on proposed wells and projects.

6.      Maintaining a list of reserve case adds & revisions in an Excel spreadsheet.

7.      Maintaining Excel spreadsheets and datasets with PHDWin data on reserve and economic parameters.

8.      Building and linking spreadsheets and datasets for variance, revision, and comparison purposes.
