Leading Energy Company is seeking an experienced Well Control Specialist to join their global organization in Houston, Texas.  In this key role, you will use your expertise developing standards for the organization, provide expertise and consultive role during all phases of drilling.  You will be the go to person for evaluating well control simulations and provide guidance on all Manage Pressure Drillings.  As the consummate specialist you will coordinate with all rig contractors and outside consultants.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering.  A Master’s degree is highly preferred.  At least ten (10) years of significant drilling completion experience with an expertise in well control.  Expertise in Well Control simulation software as well as all MS Office products required. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

 Contract Petroleum Engineer 2009 – Present 

Developed program to return 400 Panhandle Field wells to production for a small independent oil company that purchased 17 leases in Carson and Hutchinson County, Texas. Determined repair work of production equipment ranging from tank batteries, flowlines, pumping units tubing, rods, and downhole pumps needed to return wells to production. Prepared detailed workover procedures including additional perforations, stimulation, cost estimates, and established priorities for returning inactive wells to production. Reactivation of first ten wells increased production from 20 BOPD & 50 MCFD to over 50 BOPD and 125 MCFD at a cost of $6,500 per well. 

 Consulting Engineer 1994 – 2009

Worked with Sol Smith Petroleum Engineer Inc. in Austin, Texas. Prepared Railroad Commission research, walk-through permitting, State agency research, and regulatory compliance reviews. Provided turn-key saltwater disposal permitting, production and completion report filing, and other professional services and consulting.

Worked with various civil engineering firms and municipalities throughout Central Texas. Designed streets, drainage, and piping required for fresh water and sewer systems for residential and municipal projects. Prepared construction drawings, cost estimates, and engineering reports for City, County, State, and Federal regulatory approval. Reviewed and prepared comments for proposed Planned Development Districts (PDD), annexation, preliminary and final plats, subdivision/site development, and site development plans for compliance with City, County, State, and Federal regulation and acceptable engineering practices. Provided office and field engineering support for all approved water, wastewater, street, and drainage capital improvement projects funded by certificate of obligations. Reviewed and recommended payment for all consulting engineering and construction contract pay requests. Managed and directed daily activity of City’s engineering and inspection personnel.

Provided a broad scope of subsurface and production engineering in conjunction with exploration and other departments to help maximize the company’s profitability through maintaining production levels and minimizing operating expenses in a safe and environmentally sound manner. Evaluated and recommended downhole corrosion prevention, artificial lift optimization, surface facility expansion, chemical treatment optimization, compression, and automation. Your key responsibilites will include the designing, maintaining and optimizing upstream onshore West Texas/New Mexico surface facilities and production operations. The fields include primary production, waterflood fields and an expanding number of CO2 flooded fields; total Business Unit production is in the range of 200 MBOPD, 2 MMBWPD and 1.5 BCF/D of CO2 injection. Activities include working with subsurface/wells teams to design and install new facilities needed to address changing production rates; covering all aspects of project management from scope development, detailed design/estimating and project controls. Scope also includes working with Operations/Construction field personnel to troubleshoot operating issues, develop/implement solutions in order to optimize field activities and ensure mechanical integrity of equipment is maintained. There is a strong focus on Health, Environmental and Safety issues, which cover H2S handling, HAZOP type safety reviews, Management of Change (MOC’s) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR). This role also interfaces with the Specialty Engineering group, and has responsibility to assist engineers in this group when it comes to tings like Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
Required Qualifications:
  • B.S. Degree or higher in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil or Electrical Engineering
  • 2 years minimum upstream E&P experience (prefer 4+ years)
  • Some industry training in upstream E&P areas is desired
  • Exposure to project management practices and field operations
  • Ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations

This Oil Sands Business Unit is looking for a Engineering and Commissioning Manager to lead and direct operations during commissioning and start up.  In this role, you will provide technical and operational input during Detailed Engineering to improve the effectiveness of the startup period. You will act as a key interface point between Operations and Construction to ensure a smooth transition at the critical time frame of construction completion and initiation of operations. Reporting to the Area Manager, you will be wholly responsible for the planning, preparation, and execution of the field and plant facilities commissioning and startup.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Prepare the initial CSU cost estimate and track performance against the cost estimate
  • Identify commissioning systems, prepare detailed work plans, schedule commissioning activities and execute these activities in the field
  • Work with construction to clearly delineate the most effective strategy for simultaneous construction and operations activities during the construction completion phase
  • Work with the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor to identify design requirements and improvements to enable an effective start up
  • Work with the EPC contractors to ensure turnover documentation is identified and provided to operations on a timely basis
  • Identify commissioning spares requirements
  • Provide guidance to operations staff on operating procedures and processes for operator training
  • Work with operations to ensure policies, procedures, processes, and practices are followed

Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • A technical diploma in a related engineering discipline and ASET Certified Engineering Technologist designation is preferred
  • A First Class Steam Ticket would be an asset
  • 15+ years of process operations experience with a leadership role in at least 2 process startups is required

Facilitated Design of Capacity Plan

  • Designed and implemented a monitoring system that forecasts the activities of field service engineers around the globe, over the course of three years.  The tool allows for maximum utilization, with very little input from the end user.  Resulted in a 12% reduction in over-head costs, with limitless functionality for required metrics.  Recognized as best practice and has been instituted globally.  Wrote all manuals and trained staff worldwide.

Launched Task Force for Internal Project Handover

  • Recommended, initiated and led task force for internal handover of new units’ projects to after-market business or long term service projects group.  Re-wrote outdated process and developed reporting tool for management, allowing constant visibility of handover status, along with problem areas within the projects.  Reduced handover time from an average for 500+ days to an average of 62 days.

Implemented Training Program & Tracking Methodology

  • Initiated program that designates to Field Service Engineers what training is required for the year and when it is required, while permitting office staff to schedule time off appropriately.  Allocates one central location for all training documentation for Field Service Engineers to be kept electronically.  Permits other management to view current skill sets of Field Service Engineers (by individual representative and by skill set) for development and cross-training purposes, along with areas that require improvement within the entire business unit.

Developed Project Packs for New Units Work

  • Devised procedure of communication and interaction with Field Service Engineers before dispatch to New Units Installation and Commissioning MacNRG Energy Jobs (duration of 4+ months).  Procedure includes PowerPoint communication pack outlining all relevant information for site, including but not limited to; unit(s) information, short shipped items, technical requirements, contractual requirements, site information, site contacts and any known issues.  Procedure also requires kick-off meeting with Engineering, Project Management, Site Management, Site Leads, Operations and Field Service, along with weekly standing conference calls for the duration of the job and quarterly visits to site by Operations Manager, Project Manager, Site Manager and Engineering.  Resulted in reduction of unit “down-time”, 22% reduction in “waiting” time, and 43% increase in customer satisfaction.

Eliminated Outdated Reporting Functionalities

  • Combined five redundant reports into one document, reducing invoicing processing time by 52%, increasing payment time by 36% and reducing debtors by 27%.  Measures total invoices by month, by job type, along with total Work-In-Process dollar amounts, and turn-around time from customer request date to invoice date.  Outputs used for Senior Management Reporting, as well as management of office staff for performance reviews.

Our client, one of the largest Energy Corporations is seeking a talented individual for the position of EHS Supervisor – Environmental Programs.  This position is based in Oklahoma and will report to the Manager – Corporate EHS Compliance.  This Organization is one of the largest producers of natural gas in the nation and maintains a high and active drilling program of new wells in the U.S.  They are focused on discovering, acquiring and developing conventional and unconventional natural gas reserves onshore in the U.S.   The Environmental Supervisor manages and directs the environmental programs for the Operations-Production Division.  This position will assist Operations to maintain compliance with Federal, State and local environmental laws and company polices. This position requires and in-depth knowledge of environmental compliance for Exploration and Production operations including waste management, water resources, environmental remediation/restoration, and SPCC. The Environmental Supervisor must possess the ability to communicate effectively with staff and field personnel as well as senior management.

Our client, a leader in the Energy industry, is seeking an experienced Completions Engineering Supervisor to join them at the Houston office.  The key management level position is responsible for managing the Completions Engineers to ensure that all completions and stimulations are suitably designed and supported so that the operations can be conducted in a safe, environmentally acceptable, and efficient manner, and in compliance with Company policies and government regulations.

 

Your duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:


•Ensures that all completions and stimulations projects have dedicated engineering manpower. Assigns engineering staff to projects.

•Ensures completions and stimulations designs are safe, efficient and employ “best practices”.

•Works with the Engineers & Superintendents to ensure drilling projects are executed optimally.

•Establishes standard practices/ SOP’s for local engineers.

•Ensures standard practices are applied to design, execution and post well activities.

•Serves as single point of contact for all completions and stimulations requests that come from Asset and Exploration teams.

•Distributes all procedures, estimates etc. to Asset teams.

•Reviews and approves procedures, technical details and hazard/risk analyses.

•Approves all completions and stimulations work procedures.

•Approves all completions and stimulations design changes using MOC process.

•Coordinates with Asset Team & Execution Team leads to adequately plan and execute projects.

•In conjunction with the Drilling Leadership Team, accountable for overall completions and stimulations cost, safety, and environmental performance.

•Ensures that Department processes, procedures, and plans are in-place to facilitate knowledge transfer, maximize efficiency, and minimize mistakes.

•Promotes and encourages appropriate risk taking

•Participates in well design reviews and risk analysis. Ensures they are effective and follow department and global standards.

•Provides technical support on daily operations.

•Assign Contract responsibilities to Engineers and ensure compliance w/ Contractor Management standards.

•Monitors and takes an active role in ensuring all Engineers receive appropriate training – technical, safety and compliance

•Participates with Engineers and vendors on continuous improvement.

•Accountable for knowing and complying with all applicable regulations and Company HES training requirement and policies.

•Provides relief for Drilling Manager during his absence.

•Benchmarks to assess Department performance, strengths and weaknesses, and establish goals. Provides benchmark data to CDG Performance Engineer annually.

•Encourages and rewards continuous improvement and proper application of technology and best practices.

•Provides for personal development of direct reports through assignments, training, and coaching.

•Conduct performance appraisals / coordinates Personal Development Plans for all direct reports.
